The government has undertaken initiative to bring members of all government and non-government organisations under dope test to control drug addiction.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Shamsul Haque Tuku made the remarks at a discussion in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“Constitution of separate authorities has already been recommended to make the dope test a mandatory across the country,” said Tuku, also the former state minister for home affairs.
Samaj Kallyan and Unnayan Sangstha (SKUS) organised the discussion titled ‘Role of Dope Test in Drug Prevention’ on the occasion of Anti-Drug Day at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) auditorium.
Chaired by SKUS Chairman Jasmine Prema, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Mir Mostaq Ahmed Robi, SM Shahzada and Syeda Rubina Akhter, health specialist Lelin Chowdhury, journalist leaders Ashish Kumar Dey, Raju Ahmed, former general secretary of DRU, Moniruzzaman Mukul, DUJ Sports and Cultural Secretary Shakila Parvin and Nripen Boidda of Faith in Action.

Journalist Nikhil Chandra Bhadra moderated the discussion, while Polash Ahsan of Ekattor Television presented the key note speech.
Tuku hoped that under the new authorities, dope tests will soon be mandatory in all sorts of recruitment including the police, government jobs and university admissions.
He said dope tests for drivers have been started and the prime minister has directed to start dope test for any sorts of recruitment and university admissions, which will bring drug under control.
