Regent Group Chairman Shahed sued in Satkhira

An arms case has been filed with Satkhira's Debhata Police Station against Regent Group Chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed and two others.

Nazrul Islam, deputy assistant director of RAB-6, filed the case at 10:45 pm on Wednesday, said Debhata OC Biplab Kumar Saha.

Besides, boatman Bachchu who helped Shahed in the flee attempt and another unidentified man was accused in the case.

Senior ASP Bazlur Rashid, company commander of RAB-6, also confirmed the information.

RAB arrested Md Shahed from Shakhra Komorpur border in Debhata upazila of Satkhira early Wednesday on the charge of issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.

A firearm and some bullets were recovered from his possession.

Later, he was brought to Dhaka by a helicopter.

On Thursday, a Dhaka court placed Regent Group's chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed and managing director Masud Parvez on 10-day remand each in connection with cases filed over providing fake Covid-19 test reports and embezzlement of Tk 3.68 crore.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order.

The court also allowed a 7-day remand for Tariqul Islam alias Tareque Shibli, the public relations officer of the Regent Group. On July 10, he was placed on a five-day remand which ended yesterday.
