A Dhaka court has placed Regent Group's chairman Shahed Karim alias Md Shahed and managing director Masud Parvez on 10-day remand each in connection with cases filed over providing fake Covid-19 test reports and embezzlement of Tk 3.68 crore.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order on Thursday.

The court also allowed a 7-day remand for Tariqul Islam alias Tareque Shibli, the public relations officer of the Regent Group. On July 10, he was placed on a five-day remand which ended yesterday.

Earlier on Thursday, Detective Branch police inspector SM Gaffarul Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them at the court with a 10-day remand prayer. RAB DG said based on Masud's statement, the intelligence wing of RAB, with the help of RAB-6, conducted drives at frontiers of Satkhira on Tuesday night and arrested Shahed early Wednesday from Debhata while he was trying to flee to India.

Shahed was brought to Dhaka Wednesday morning.
