A Dhaka court on Friday (July 17) placed Regent Group Managing Director Masud Parvez’s brother-in-law Gias Uddin Jalali and his driver Mahmudul Hasan on a one-day remand each in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Monika Khan issued the order after the investigation officer (IO) of the case produced them before the court with a five-day remand plea.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Gias Uddin Jalali along with 48 cheque book pages and several official seals signed by the Group Chairman Shahed Karim from the capital's Ashulia area.
During the drive carried out by RAB-1 in the Narsinghapur area of Ashulia on Thursday night, the elite force also detained his driver and confiscated his private car, laden with 2,120 pieces of yaba and 10 bottles of Phensedyl.
The RAB later filed a case with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
Regent Group Chairman Shahed Karim and MD Masud Parvez are already in police custody.
