To avail rail service, passengers of all inter-district trains have to register with Bangladesh Railway’s (BR) server system with their national identity card (NID), passport, or birth certificate.

Tickets will not be sold to unregistered passengers from March 1, Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon said at a press conference at Rail Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday.

BR will preserve the passengers’ accounts, and passengers can buy tickets using this account every time. The registration process can be completed either online or offline.

For online registration, passengers can use the BR e-ticketing service or the rail sheba app. They can also register offline at ticket counters through SMS. BR will also open help desks at divisional and major stations to help passengers register.

The registration process will be open from February 16, and help desks will be opened within the next week, the minister said.
