Relief embezzlement: 3 more public representatives suspended

The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry has suspended a municipality councillor, a Union Parishad (UP) chairman and a UP member on various allegations including embezzlement of relief materials and irregularities in relief distribution amidst the ongoing crisis of coronavirus outbreak.

With the latest ones, a total of 42 public representatives have so far been suspended.

A notification issued in this regard on Thursday said the authorities have found various allegations brought against the public representatives authentic.

The suspended public representatives are: Raju Ahmmed, councillor of ward No 6  in Charghat Municipality in Rajshahi district; Md Amanat Ullah Alamgir, chairman of Monpura union parishad in Monpura upazila in Bhola district and Nazmoni Akhter Lovely, UP member (reserved seat) member of  Mankon union parishad in Muktagacha upazila of Mymensingh district.

The notice also asked the suspended public representatives to explain through respective deputy commissioners why they shouldn’t be removed permanently from their posts.
