Abul Khair Md Maruf Hasan, deputy secretary at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, died Thursday after suffering from COVID-like symptoms.
He breathed his last around 6:00am while being on life-support at Central Police Hospital in Dhaka.
Senior information officer at the ministry Md Selim Hossain confirmed the news to the media.
Maruf Hasan had been receiving treatment at the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh since April 7, Selim said.
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman expressed deep shock and sorrows at the death of Maruf Hasan.
