The police have sought to take former law minister Anisul Haque, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman, and Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan into 10-day remand each in a case filed over the murder of Khalid Hasan Saifullah – an Ideal College student.

Lalbagh police submitted the remand plea before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Saturday. The hearing will be held the same day.

Back on August 14, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid granted 10-day remand for Anisul Haque and Salman F Rahman each in a case filed over the murder of Shahjahan Ali (24), a shopkeeper in the city’s New Market area.

In the same case, the court granted 8-day remand for Ziaul Hasan on August 17. On Saturday, the police again applied for remand for the trio in the college student murder case.

Salman F Rahman and Anisul Haque were arrested with the help of BGB and Coast Guard from Sadarghat Mosque Ghat under Kotwali Police Station of Dhaka City on August 13.

At that time Salman F Rahman was carrying 12,624 US Dollars, 620 Swiss Francs, 8,500 Dirhams, 1.3 million Uzbekistan Som, 11,650 Riyal, 779 Singaporean Dollars, 150 pounds, 1,321 Euros, Tk 50,000, 6,230 Bhutanese Ngultrum, 1,000 rupees, 3,320 Thai Baht.

He also had five green passports and one diplomatic passport.

On the other hand, Anisul Haque was carrying 17, 512 US Dollars, 726 Singaporean Dollars and three diplomatic passports.

Two days after the arrest of the duo, Ziaul Ahsan was arrested late at night on August 15 from Khilkhet area of ​​Dhaka.
