The High Court today directed the authorities concerned of the government to remove obscene contents and films from the OTT (over-the-top) platforms across the country within a week.
The court also asked Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to submit a report before it in a month on government's revenue collection from the OTT platforms.
The High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim came up with the order after hearing virtually a writ petition filed by SC lawyer Tanvir Ahmed in this regard.
The petetioner submitted the petition to the HC on July 12 saying that several OTT platforms contain obscene and questionable content and films, causing moral degradation, particularly among adolescents and youths in the country.
