Dr Shafiqul Islam, a retired doctor died of coronavirus in Dhaka today.
He was a first batch student of Sir Salimullah Medical College, breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital around 9:00 am.
Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR), confirmed the news.
He was undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital after being tested positive for coronavirus three weeks back.
According to FDSR, with him, at least 41 doctors have died of Covid-19 so far and six others passed away with coronavirus symptoms.
