The body of Saida Khalek, a retired professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of the University of Dhaka, was recovered from Gazipur on Friday.
She went missing three days ago, and her body was found near her rented house in Gazipur’s Panishail area. Police have arrested a number of suspects in this connection.
Proctor of the university Dr AKM Golam Rabbani told the media Saida had been killed over feuds. “A suspect admitted to the killing during interrogation by police.”
Dhaka University Teachers Association General Secretary Professor Dr Nizamul Hoque Bhuiyan said Saida might have had arguments with workers during the construction of a new house, which led to her murder.
