Criminal Investigation Department of police has arrested Saiful Islam, director of e-commerce platform ringID, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Saiful was apprehended in the capital’s Gulshan area on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police Azad Rahman of CID confirmed on Saturday.
“We are interrogating him on various issues,” the CID official said.
On September 30, the case was filed against 25 people, including Saiful, with Bhatara police station.
According to the case statement, the e-commerce firm swindled Tk 23.94 crore in May, Tk 109.13 crore in June, and Tk 79.38 crore in July from people.
The CID has already requested the central bank to freeze the bank accounts of the firm to prevent money laundering.
