A court here today sent to jail Saiful Islam, director of e-commerce platform ringID, in a case lodged under Digital Security Act (DSA).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after end of his two-day remand in the case.

Investigation officer (IO) and CID inspector Sohel Rana pleaded to keep Saiful behind the bars till the conclusion of the probe in the case. Saiful's lawyer, however, pleaded for his bail.

After hearing both sides, the court sent Saiful to jail and set October 11 to hold hearing on his plea for bail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury on October 2 had placed Saiful on two-day remand. He was arrested from the capital's Gulshan Police Station on October 1.

A woman named Ankhi Begum filed the case against 25 including Saiful Islam with Bhatara Police Station, alleging she has been conned after investing in ringID.
