RMCH logs 12 more Covid deaths

Twelve more Covid patients died at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital in the past 24 hours till Monday morning, according to the district's health officials.

"Of the deceased, 10 were Covid-19 positive while the others died with Covid-like-symptoms," said Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).

Three of them were from Rajshahi, six from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore and the remaining one from Meherpur, he added.

With 44 new cases, a total of 307 people are currently undergoing Covid treatment at the hospital while 19 are in the ICU unit.

On Sunday, 188 samples were tested in the hospital's lab and 465 in the PCR lab. Of these, 78 people were identified as Covid positive in the RMCH Lab and 169 in the PCR Lab.

As per the test ratio of the samples, the infection rate in Rajshahi district is 41.18 per cent which is the highest in the division.

Apart from this, the infection rate in Naogaon is 38.14 per cent and 23.12 per cent in Natore.

So far, 179 people died at RMCH till Monday.
