RMCH logs 22 more Covid-19 deaths

Twenty-two more Covid patients died in the past 24 hours at the Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital till Thursday morning, according to the district's health officials. 

"Of the deceased, five were Covid-19 positive while the remaining sixteen died with Covid-like-symptoms and one after recovering, said Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, director of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).

Among the fatalities, fourteen were from Rajshahi, five from Naogaon, one each from Chapainawabganj, Natore, and Jhenaidah district.

With 66 new cases, a total of 462 people are currently undergoing Covid treatment against 405 Covid-dedicated beds hospital while 20 people are in ICU.  

On Wednesday, 188 samples were tested in the hospital's lab and 365 in the PCR lab. Of these, 47 people were identified as Covid positive in the RMCH Lab and 201 in the PCR Lab.

As per the test ratio of the samples, the infection rate in Naogaon was 63.56 per cent, the highest in the Rajshahi division.

Apart from this, the infection rate in Rajshahi was 39.90 per cent and 37.93 per cent in Chapainawabganj.

So far, 420 people died at RMCH till Thursday.

The RMCH on June 29 reported 25 deaths from the novel coronavirus infection, which is the highest single-day death toll at the hospital so far.
