Agitating apparel workers on Tuesday blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, setting a bus on fire as one of their colleagues was injured in a road accident in Gazipur city.
The incident took place in the Maleker Bari area in the afternoon.
Monir Hossain, 27, an electrician at Alif Casual Wear Ltd, got injured while trying to cross the highway in front of Columbia factory around 2:00pm, said Basan police station Officer-in-Charge Malek Khasru Khan.
As the news spread around, workers of Alif Casual and adjacent factories took to the streets and vandalised several other vehicles, he said.
At one stage, they also set a Mymensingh-bound bus of Shoukhin Paribahan on fire.
Monir was admitted to Uttara Adhunic Medical College and Hospital, the OC added.
