Four people have died in separate road accidents in Mymensingh and Tangail districts.
In Mymensingh, a couple died as a bus ran over them while they were crossing the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhaluka on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Abbas Ali Dewan, 60, and his wife Hazera Khatun, 50, residents of Kalmegha village in Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail.
According to police, Abbas Ali and his wife came to visit his granddaughter’s house.
A bus of Shahjalal Paribahan knocked down the couple when they were crossing the road, leaving them dead on the spot.
Shah Kamal Akanda, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said the highway police recovered the bodies.
Police seized the bus but the driver managed to escape.
In Tangail, two people were killed in a road accident in the Pauli area of Kalihati upazila on Saturday morning.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. However, police said that the deceased was the driver and helper of the covered van.
Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Elenga Highway Police Outpost, said a Dhaka-bound covered van crashed into a lorry on the south side of Pauli Bridge on the Dhaka-North Bengal highway.
The front part of the covered van was smashed, leaving the driver and the helper of the covered dead on the spot, he said.
