A total number of 7,809 people were killed and 9,039 were injured in 5,629 road accidents last year, Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (JKS) said on Sunday.
The organisation’s Secretary-General Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury shared the information during a press conference at Sagar-Runi Auditorium, Dhaka Reporters Unity in Dhaka.
The report was prepared following the media reports.
Data provided by the JKS shows that there is a rising trend of road crashes in the last few years despite the government agencies are continuously promising changes after a major road safety movement in July-August 2018.
