To prevent road crashes, the Bangladesh government has taken various measures, one of which is the Road Transport Act 2018, and “Road Transport Rules - 2021.”

To ensure the safety of all road users, recently a “Motor vehicles speed limit guideline 2024” has been notified by the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges under the RTA 2018 and RTR 2021, reads a press release.

Road Safety Coalition Bangladesh congratulated the Minister and Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges today (14 May, 2024) at the Bangladesh Secretariat at 11:00 a.m. for formulation of the “Motor Vehicle Speed Limit Guidelines 2024.”

Minister Obaidul Quader MP conveyed his gratitude to the coalition. ABM Amin Ullah Noori, Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division said that the Motor Vehicle Speed Limit Guidelines 2024 will play an important role in reducing road crashes and preventing premature deaths.

Chairman of Nirapad Sarak Chai, Ilyas Kanchan, BRAC Director Ahmed Nazmul Hussain, Dhaka Ahsania Mission Road Safety Project Coordinator Sharmeen Rahman, Advocacy Officer Tarikul Islam, Project Manager of Road Safety of National Heart Foundation Bangladesh Mohammad Wali Noman, Chandan Laheri, Coordinator of STEPS, Bajlur Rahman, Associate Professor of Dhaka International University, Md. Sharafat E Alam, Program Officer of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Sifat E Rabbani, Program Officer of Sastho Surokkha Foundation and Ahsania Mission Youth Forum for Health and Wellbeing Coordinator Marjana Muntaha were present there.
