A devastating fire ripped through the parts of a Rohingya camp at Balukhali in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Sunday afternoon.
The fire erupted at Camp-16 under Palangkhali union around 5:00pm, Armed Police Battalion-8 Additional Superintendent of Police Kamran Hossain told The Business Post.
Eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 7:15pm, he said.
No casualties were reported in the incident immediately.
The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage could not be ascertained at the moment.
Earlier on January 2, a blaze erupted at the extended Rohingya camp at Balukhali, burning at least 20 houses and a health facility, operated by the International Organization for Migration.
On March 22 last year, at least 15 Rohingyas were killed and thousands of shanties were gutted after a fire swept through the Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.
