The High Court has granted bail to Asif Hossain, managing director of Mazidsons Construction Limited in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over graft in supplying furniture and appliances at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project's (RNPP) housing project in Pabna.
A High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order on Wednesday.
Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the state while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC and Advocate Fida M Kamal stood for the petitioner.
Earlier on October 19, the High Court ordered the authorities concerned to complete investigations into three graft cases filed over the purchase of furniture and other household items for Green City housing project under the RNPP.
An allegation of misappropriating 13.24 crore taka while purchasing furniture and other household items for Green City housing project was raised.
According to reports, each pillow bought for the housing project was shown to have cost 5,957 taka and 760 taka was shown as the lifting charge for each pillow while an electric stove was shown to have been bought for 7,747 taka with an additional lifting charge of 6,650 taka.
Additionally, the purchase price of an electric kettle was reportedly 5,313 taka while its lifting cost was 2,945 taka. Similarly, a room-cleaning machine, reportedly purchased at 12,018 taka, was lifted spending 6,650 taka.
