Health minister Zahid Maleque denied the allegations of physical assault on the journalist Rozina Islam at the time of discharging professional duty. Rather the minister claimed that Rozina scratched and slapped an additional secretary of the health ministry.
On Tuesday minister said the incident in reply to a question of the journalists.
According to the claim of journalists, an additional secretary allegedly manhandled the daily Prothom Alo reporter Rozina, but minister said that it is a matter which needs investigation to know about the truth.
“I have contacted the additional secretary in question over telephone and asked about the incident. He said to me that he did not assault journalist Rozina physically, rather it is Rozina who attacked him,” the minister said.
When Rozina was being confined, she scratched and landed slaps on the additional secretary in a stage of the brawl. Then police rushed to the spot, the health minister added.
Minister also said that Rozina was not persecuted physically and obviously the incident has nothing of resentment against the newsperson in question for her prior reports on the health ministry.
