Rumour over missing JU student: Niranjan Baral sent to jail after remand

A Dhaka court on Friday sent Niranjan Baral to jail after remand in connection with a case filed under Digital Security Act over spreading rumours about the disappearance of Tithi Sarker, a Jagannath University (JU) student.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy passed the order after the investigation officer brought the accused before the court on Friday.

Earlier on the day, the investigation officer prayed to sent the accused to jail before finishing the investigation.

Earlier on November 3, a Dhaka court placed Niranjan Baral on a two-day remand in this case.

On 31 October 2020, the cyber monitoring team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) came across a Facebook post that claimed that missing Tithi Sarker was rescued from the CID office in Malibagh with her hands tied up.
