Runaway pregnant woman found Covid-19 positive in Chaugachha

One more novel coronavirus patient has been detected at Chaugachha upazilla in Jashore district.

The patient, a pregnant woman (28), was found Covid-19 positive on Friday. However, the woman fled the hospital after her specimen had been sent for Covid-19 testing to a Jashore genome center, on Thursday (April 23).

The Upazilla Health and Family Planning officer, Dr. Lutfunnahar, confirmed the matter to The Business Post, Saturday morning. The woman lives in Banurhuda village of Pashapole union of the upazilla, she said.

Lutfunnahar said three specimens collected from three coronavirus suspected patients were sent to the genome center of the University of Science and Technology of Jashore for testing on Thursday. The woman of Banurhuda village was found positive for the coronavirus on Friday, she said.

The woman was admitted to labour and delivery department of the hospital on April 22, Lutfunnahar said. She said, "The hospital authority collected the pregnant woman's specimen, as she was coughing with a runny nose. The sample was sent to Jashore for Covid-19 testing." But, the patient ran away from the hospital soon after the specimen had been transferred to Jashore, she added.

Prior to this, two coronavirus patients were detected at Chaugachha on Wednesday. Lutfunnahar said, subsequently Chaugachha Municipality and Chaugachha Upazilla were locked down.
