Russell T Ahmed has been elected as the new president of Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) for the term 2022-2023.

BASIS members elected a new 11-member Board of Directors known as Executive Council (EC) for a two years term by direct voting on December 26, 2021, the association said in a statement on Sunday.

The newly elected executive council took over the charge of office on 6th January 2022 officially and the installation ceremony took place on 13th January 2022 at ICCB, Dhaka.

BASIS, the national Trade body for the software & IT enabled industry of Bangladesh, was established in 1998 with only 18 charter members. Currently, the membership stands at more than 1,800.

Since inception, BASIS has been working relentlessly to make the Digital Bangladesh initiative of the government a success.

Besides, BASIS has been actively working with the government in digitization and automation processes and to achieve the target of $5 billion from software and ITES export by 2025.
