Private television channel SA TV resumed its broadcasting on Friday after paying off the arrears of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited.
State-owned BSCL on Thursday midnight suspended the broadcasting of SA TV and Channel-9 for unpaid charges.
The two channels owed around Tk 1 crore each to BSCL, said the company chairman Shahjahan Mahmood, adding that SA TV paid off its dues Friday, May 21, 2021
The channel resumed its transmission around 1:45pm.
“The charge is very small compared to the money our broadcasting companies make,” Mahmood told The Business Post.
“We will allow Channel 9 to resume their broadcasting after they pay off the dues,” he said.
Officials of SA TV and Channel-9 were not immediately available for comments.
BSCL was established in 2017 to control, monitor and merchandise Bangabandhu Satellite-1 after it was launched.
