The Suhana and Anis Ahmed Foundation (SAAF), a non-profit organisation, has provided financial assistance and essential medical supplies by collaborating with the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement in various government and private hospitals.

On Sunday, SAAF delivered critical medications, including injectable antibiotics, surgical supplies, and orthopaedic elements, to several hospitals, including the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and Kurmitola General Hospital.

As part of this effort, Asha Paul, deputy general manager (DGM) of SAAF handed over the equipment to NITOR Joint Director Dr Md Mozaffor Hossain.

Dr Mozaffor said, “As many as 693 severely injured patients have come to NITOR from July 15 till today. Of these, five patients died, and 142 are still admitted, where 13 of them got amputation or removal of a limb permanently. Among the injured, 42 are students.

“We are treating them and have plans to establish a dedicated ward for them. This type of treatment is a lengthy process, but we are trying our best. We provide free treatment, including screws, plating, and other medical equipment,” he added.

SAAF Co-founder and Co-chairman Anis Ahmed said, "For us at SAAF, it’s not just about providing financial support—it’s about restoring hope to those who have sacrificed everything for our right to freedom of speech and a life of dignity.

"Our commitment will continue until they recover fully and are on their feet to enjoy this hard-earned freedom. If needed we will provide prosthetic hands and legs to them."

Nusrat Tabassum, one of the key coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, “We are working on a priority basis. For our injured brothers and sisters, the government's support has been vital, but SAAF's additional efforts have been transformative.”

"From surgeries to ensuring critical medications and specialised care, SAAF's dedication to the injured is unwavering, filling essential gaps where it's needed most,” she added.

NITOR Deputy Director Dr Md Shahidur Rahman, Deputy Director Dr Md Badiuzzaman, Junior Consultant Dr Md Hasibuzzaman, the anti-discrimination student movement coordinators Md Wahid Uz Zaman, Nusrat Tabassum were also present, among others.
