The fire that broke out in a launch named 'Moyur-7' at Sadarghat launch terminal in the city on Friday morning has been doused.
Khaleda Yeasmin, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, confirmed the matter to BSS around 12:30pm.
“A total of 13 firefighting units and a diving team brought the blaze under control around 12:10 pm after around one and a half hours of hectic efforts,” she said.
“The launch was standing still on the banks of Sadarghat, she added, the exact cause of the fire could not be known. There was no report of casualties from the fire incident.”
Rafiq Ullah, a owner of the launch, said that the launch reached the terminal from Chandpur at around 10:30am.
The fire might have originated due to explosion of an air conditioner in a cabin of the launch, he said.
