The health condition of ailing Awami League presidium member and former Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun has improved slightly.
Anisur Rahman, her personal secretary, confirmed the matter on Sunday, adding that she is still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the United Hospital in the capital.
Rahman said, "We visited her (Sahara Khatun) this morning and talked to the doctors. They said her condition is improving gradually. She is recovering from the symptoms for which she was admitted to the hospital in the first place."
But the politician is still not out of danger, but she will be transferred to the cabin in a couple of days if the current improvement persists, Anisur Rahman said quoting the doctors.
The 77-year-old politician was admitted to United Hospital in Dhaka with old age complications and symptoms like fever and allergic reactions on June 2. She had been undergoing treatment at that hospital since.
She was shifted to the ICU at the hospital on Friday as her health condition deteriorated.
Sahara Khatun has been an elected member of parliament for the Dhaka-18 seat for the last three terms.
In the 2008 Awami League-led government, she served as the home minister and then as the minister of Posts and Telecommunications.
