Two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van used by the World Food Programme (WFP) and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar Thursday morning.

The accident took place on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive in the Mithapanirchhara area around 10:00am.

The deceased are — autorickshaw driver Mohammad Sadek, a resident of Nayapara in the upazila, and passenger Mahfuza Begum, of Jaliapara.

Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman said the accident left the duo dead on the spot and two more passengers of the autorickshaw injured.

The injured were sent to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, he added.
