Hearing on Ron Haque Sikder, managing director of Sikder Group, and his brother Dipu Haque Sikder's plea over permission to appeal against a High Court bail rejection order was adjourned for two weeks by the Appellate Division.
A bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Sunday.
Earlier on July 28, the Sikder brothers sought permission to challenge their bail rejection order issued by the High Court.
Sayed Ahmed Raja, lawyer of the two accused, filed a plea in this regard and chamber judge of the bench of Justice Nuruzzaman sent the application to the Appellate Division for hearing on August 9.
Earlier on July 19, the two brothers filed an anticipatory bail plea with the High Court from Bangkok in a case filed on charges of abducting, torturing and threatening to shoot two top officials of Exim Bank over loan permission.
The bail plea was rejected by the High Court bench of Justice Md Ashraful Kamal during a virtual hearing on July 20.
The High Court bench also fined the siblings for wasting court time and directed Ron and Dipu to submit 10,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Prime Minister's relief fund for illegally applying for bail while staying abroad.
On May 28, the brothers were sued for an alleged attempt to murder by shooting, detaining and torturing Exim Bank Md Mohammad Hayder Ali Mia and additional Md Mohammad Firoz Hossain.
