The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the High Court orders for eight weeks that acquitted three people who were sentenced to death in a case filed for the killing of a six-year-old Hridoy in Cox's Bazar following abduction.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique passed the order on Wednesday (December 23).
Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah who represented the state before the court confirmed the matter to the Business Post.
Earlier on December 7, the High Court acquitted three people who were sentenced to death by a trial court in a case filed for abducting and killing Hridoy in Cox's Bazar in 2013.
Abdul Khaleque, Bahadur Miah and Abdus Shukkur were acquitted by HC as the charges of abducting and killing Hridoy, as allegations against them were not proven.
The HC bench of Justice Krishna Debnath and Justice ASM Abdul Mobin gave the verdict after hearing the appeals filed by accused of the case.
Earlier on June 7, 2015, a court in Cox’s Bazar sentenced three to death for murdering Hridoy. District and Sessions Judge Md Sadiqul Islam Talukder passed the verdict. Hridoy was murdered at Nuniarchhar on June 4 in 2013.
