The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) strongly condemned the recent vandalism and sabotage activities caused during the quota reform movement by BNP, Jamaat and other anti-liberation forces on Thursday.
During a press conference at the Supreme Court premises, SCBA Secretary, Shah Manjurul Haque highlighted the position of the Supreme Court Bar against the anti-national activities of the BNP-Jamaat and the anti-independence circle, reports BSS.
He said, "During an emergency meeting of the Supreme Court Bar Executive Committee on Wednesday, the majority of the committee members have decided to condemn the anarchy that they have caused across the country."
"BNP Jamaat and forces that are against our freedom and independence are wreaking havoc across the country by destroying the peace and order of the country and burning down the important structures and establishments. As part of the anti-national conspiracy, they are leaving no stone unturned to turn Bangladesh into a dysfunctional fundamentalist state," he added.
The people of the country are united against this plot of destruction, he said.
"The Supreme Court stands united with the people of the country to protect the sovereignty, state assets and public lives. Legal action and punishment must be ensured against those involved in this destruction and violence," the SCBA secretary said.
Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad convener Senior Advocate Yusuf Hussain Humayun, SCBA Senior Vice President M Ramzan Ali Shikder, Vice President Dr Abu Obaid Hossain Setu, Treasurer Mohammad Nurul Huda Ansari, Senior Assistant Secretary M Humayun Kabir and member Rashedul Haque Khokon were present among others during the conference.
