A Dhaka court has placed Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan on a 7-day remand in a case filed over murdering Savar schoolgirl Nila Roy who was reportedly stabbed to death by the accused when she refused his proposal of a romantic relationship.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajib Ahsan passed the order Saturday.
Earlier, the investigation officer had prayed a 10-day remand for interrogation. However, the court granted 7 days remand for the accused.
On Friday, police arrested Mizan from Savar area.
On September 20, Nila Roy, 14, a 10-grade student at a local school and daughter of Narayan Roy, was hacked to death allegedly by a stalker in the Bank Colony area of Savar.
Police said stalker Mizanur Rahman used to stalk the victim and proposed her of a romantic relationship.
However, Nila rejected his unwelcome advances again on Sunday night, Mizanur hacked her with a knife, leaving her critically injured.
Locals rescued Nila and took her to Enam Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead, said police.
On September 24, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a couple from Manikganj, both of whom are accused in the case.
The detained were identified as Abdur Rahman (60) and Nazmunnahar Shadika (50), parents of Mizanur Rahman, who is the prime accused in the murder case.
Earlier on September 25, a Dhaka court placed both Abdur Rahman and Nazmunnahar Shadika on 2 days of remand though police sought seven-day remand.
