A schoolteacher was allegedly pushed off a moving bus by its driver’s assistant in the Station Road area of Chattogram city over fare dispute on Saturday.

The injured, Rahmat Ullah, is an assistant teacher at Habibullah Government Primary School in the Panchlaish area of the city.

Abhijitat Barua, a colleague of the injured teacher, said Rahmat Ullah was a trainee of PTI (Primary Training Institute) in Sadarghat area. He used to come to PTI from his home in the Oxygen area of the city.

He got on the bus from Oxygen area to go to PTI in the morning.

An altercation between Rahmat and the bus staff started when the teacher protested against charging extra fare.

At one stage of the altercation, the driver’s assistant pushed him out of the moving bus, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to the National Hospital of the area.

Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge Nejam Uddin said the injured schoolteacher was admitted to the hospital.

The bus has already been seized and drives are on to arrest the driver and his assistant.

A case has been lodged with the police station in this regard, the OC added.
