Veteran journalist and former chief of Correspondents of United News of Bangladesh (UNB) Faruk Quazi passed away at his residence on Friday.
His daughter Arshi Quazi confirmed the matter, saying the journalist, 71, breathed his last in his sleep around 8 am at his Elephant Road residence.
Faruk, former President of Law Reporters' Forum (LRF), left behind his wife, one daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the senior journalist who also was PM's former deputy press secretary.
The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
