At least seven people, including three members of a family, were killed when a microbus lost control and fell into a pond in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila.
Three more people were injured in the crash.
The accident took place on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Pukpukuria area of the upazila around 10:00am on Sunday.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.
Confirming the matter, Sirajul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Chiringa Highway police outpost said the passenger microbus from Cox's Bazar to Chattogram lost control and fell into a pond on the side of the road when it reached Pukpukuria area of Chakaria Highway. Seven people, including women and children, were killed then.
The car involved in the accident has been seized, said SI Sirajul Islam, adding that the procedure for handing over the victims' bodies to their families is underway.
