Sheikh Abdur Rasheed appointed chairman of PKSF

On Tuesday, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed, a retired additional secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, was appointed as the chairman of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) for the next three years.

This appointment was made under Article 6(e) and Article 52 of the Articles of Association of PKSF, reads a press release.

This order is issued in the public interest and effective immediately.

In the 1980s, the Government of Bangladesh felt the need to establish a specialised institution for poverty alleviation through employment generation.

After years-long discussions with development partners, different ministries and top development experts, the GoB finally decided to found the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

This apex development organisation formally came into being on 13 November 1989, after the President of Bangladesh approved the proposal.
