Shinepukur Ceramics fined Tk17cr for illegal gas connection

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company PLC has fined Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd Tk 17 crore for having illegal gas connection, and directed the company to pay the amount by Tuesday [August 19, 2024].

Titus Gas sources say during a drive on Sunday afternoon, a team detected an illegal bypass gas connection at the ceramic tableware manufacturing company. The illegal connection was cut, the main gas line to Shinepukur Ceramics was not disconnected.

The gas transmission and distribution company told Shinepukur that if the fine is not deposited by Monday, their gas connection will be disconnected.

Titus Managing Director Md Harunur Rashid Mollah had earlier told reporters that several additional installations were also found during the drive at Shinepukur Ceramics. This drive is not over yet, and will continue throughout Tuesday.

Regarding the fine of Tk 17 crore, Mollah said the final figure will be disclosed Tuesday.

It should be noted that the parent company of Shinepukur Ceramics is Beximco Ltd. Salman F Rahman, founder and vice chairman of Beximco, served as the private industry and investment adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
