Seven shops and a temple were gutted after a fire broke out at a cotton warehouse around Saturday noon on Pirojpur's Press Club Street.
Four units of firefighting units contained the blaze after an hour's effort.
Deputy Director of Pirojpur Fire Service Abdul Malek said seven shops and a temple in the area had been fully destroyed by the fire.
He said they suspect an electric short-circuit might have sparked the fire.
The damage has been estimated to approximately Tk 500,000.
But affected traders say the ruinous said the extent of loss is much greater than the estimation.
