Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday extended the duration of operation of grocery stores and small shops in the city by two hours.
Shops will now remain open until 4:00 pm instead of 2:00 pm in the city.
Besides, recognised kitchen markets and super shops in the capital will remain open 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman.
Before this new directive, the grocery stores and small shops were asked to shut by 2:00 pm to contain the spread of coronavirus.
However, drugstores and emergency services are exempt from this directive, he said.
