The weather department has predicted showers across Bangladesh in the 24 hours commencing 9:00 am on Sunday.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions; at many places over Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions, and at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the southern part of the country,” the weather department said in a bulletin.

Day and night temperatures may fall slightly over the southern part of Bangladesh and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere in the country.

Rainfall activity is likely to continue, it added.

The weather office recorded the highest 45 mm rainfall in Teknaf of Chattogram division in 24 hours till 6:00 am on Sunday.

The highest temperature was recorded at 37.0 degrees Celsius in Tetulia of Rangpur division, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 24.0 degrees in Teknaf.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure area formed over North Bay, intensified into a well-marked low first and then into a Depression, and now lies over Northwest Bay off West Bengal-North Odisha coast and adjoining areas, as per the bulletin.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and the centre of the Depression to Assam across central part of Bangladesh, it added.
