Sinha murder: Constable Rubel on 7-day remand

A Cox's Bazar court has placed Constable Rubel Sharma on a seven-day remand in connection with the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Tamanna Farah passed the order on Wednesday after hearing a 10-day remand plea submitted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Khairul Islam, assistant superintendent of police and the investigating officer of the case, confirmed the matter.

Earlier in the day, Constable Rubel was produced before the court at 11am. He was taken back to Cox's Bazar Jail at around 1:20pm after the remand order.

Rubel Sharma, a constable of Teknaf police station, was arrested on September 14 in connection with Major (retd) Sinha murder case and was sent to jail later in the day after he was produced before the court.

14 police members were arrested in the case so far.

Major (retd) Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post on July 31.

Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, filed the case at Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court, accusing the 13 police members.

All the 13 accused, except OC Pradeep Kumar Das, gave confessional statements before the court over the tragic murder.
