Sinha shooting took just a minute or two: RAB

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional Director General (ADG) Col Tofail Mostafa Sarwar said the shooting incident of Maj (retd) Sinha Md Rashed took place within a minute or two.

“The whole shooting incident of Major Sinha took place in a minute or two,” Col Tofail said, speaking with journalists after visiting the Shamlapur checkpost in Cox's Bazar.

"The probe committee is trying to determine how responsible Liakat Ali and Nandadulal were, in a process of cross-checking information provided by the accused during interrogation with the evidence recovered," he added.

"Since this is a sensitive issue, nothing can be said in a hurry. It is not possible to say many things in the interest of the investigation," he continued.

The three main murder accused, OC Pradeep Kumar Das, SI Liakat Ali and ASI Nanda Dulal, all suspended from the police force, were taken to the crime scene by the investigating officer for getting more information about their role in the murder.

On July 31, around 10pm, Major (retd) Sinha was killed at an Armed Police Battalion (APBn) checkpost in Teknaf’s Baharchhara union.

On August 5, a murder case was filed by Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Firdaus, accusing nine people, including then Teknaf police station officer-in-charge Pradeep, Baharchhara checkpost in-Charge, Liakat, Sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit, and Tutul, ASI Liton Miah, Constable Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Md Abdullah Al Mamun, and Md Mostafa.

So far, 13 people have been arrested in the case.
