Thirteen coastal districts will be severely affected and two districts will be lightly affected after cyclone Sitrang hits Bangladesh, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman said on Monday.
Patharghata in Barguna and Kalapara in Patuakhali will be the most affected, the state minister said during a briefing about Cyclone Sitrang at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
The state minister said that while Sitrang will hit Bangladesh completely, India is unlikely to be hit. It may hit the coastal area by 6:00am to 7:00am Tuesday. Barguna Sadar, Patharghata, and Kalapara of Patuakhali would be hit the hardest.
He mentioned that Sitrang will hit 13 districts-- Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, and Feni. That is to say, it will hit most of the Chattogram, Khulna, and Barisal divisions and the islands of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar. Especially Maheshkhali and Sandeep are vulnerable.
