Six electronic gates will be introduced at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Tuesday.
The e-gates will be inaugurated to make the immigration process faster and improve the quality of services, said Wing Commander Taslim Ahmed, director of the airport, on Monday.
The e-gates will be managed by immigration police and camera will be installed at each gate.
Passengers can easily pass through the electronic gates as the gates will be opened automatically after submitting e-passports and the whole process will be completed within 30 seconds, said the airport authorities.
On June 7, 12 e-gates were inaugurated at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
E-passports have an in-built microprocessor chip containing details of the holder. The e-gates will identify air passengers after scanning the e-passport. And the process ensures high security during the verification of travel documents, the authorities added.
