Islamic scholars from home and abroad on the fifth day of the International Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil in Chattogram on Monday laid stress on following the way of the holy Prophet (SM) and his companions, aka Ahle Sunnat wal Jama’at, as it is the lone path to liberate and save the Muslims.

They said the Prophet (SM) had warned 1,500 years ago that in the latter days, Muslim ummah will be divided into 73 sects and all but one of them will be misguided and destined to hell and the excepting one who will follow the way of the Prophet (SM) and his companions.

It is Ahle Sunnat wal Jama’at who follows the way of the Prophet (SM) and his companions and it is the global platform for Muslims for their liberation and salvation in an era of fitna and fasad, they said.

The 10-day mahfil, organised by the Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil Management Council, is drawing huge crowds every day at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque plaza in the port city.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Faridul Haque Khan attended the fifth day’s mahfil as the chief guest with the chief patron of the mahfil management council Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman, also the chairman of the PHP Family, in the chair. Allama Sakhawat Hossain Barkati from Kolkata of India was the day’s main speaker.

Faridul said terrorism has no place in Islam and those who kill innocent people in the name of Islam are enemies of Islam and humanity. The people of the country must take firm conviction to resist all such terrorist groups and militants, he said.

Sufi Mizanur Rahman said eminent religious scholar Allama Muhammad Jalal Uddin Alkaderi initiated the Shahadat-e-Karbala Mahfil in 1986 to uphold the dignity of Ahle Bait and to create public opinion against the rejected sects that roared in the name of Islam. “I’m blessed and proud to have associated myself with this mahfil since its inception. Maybe this can be the means of our salvation in the hereafter,” he said.

Indian scholar Sakhawat said Allah the Almighty has upheld the status of His beloved Prophet (SM) and the Ahle Bait. All the Prophets and the companions of Prophet Muhammad (SM) are innocent and they are above criticism. It is the creed and tenet of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at, he said.

Shaikhul Hadith Allama Qazi Moin Uddin Ashrafi, chairman of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Bangladesh, said those who have the knowledge of the unseen are called prophets and those who do not believe in knowledge of the unseen are misguided. “We have to be careful about those who claim to be scholars and insult the saints and the Prophets,” he said.

Chittagong University’s Professor of Arabic Muhammad Zafar Ullah, Jamiatul Falah Mosque Imam Hafez Maulana Muhammad Ahmadul Haq, Senior Vice President of Anjuman Trust Mohammad Mohsin, Chairman of Gausia Committee Bangladesh Peyar Mohammad, Chattogram Panel Mayor Mohammad Ghiyas Uddin, Islamic Foundation Divisional Director Borhan Uddin M Abu Ahsan, banker Ahmadul Haque, and Shahjada Ihsanul Karim Ichhapuri, among others, also spoke at the day’s mahfil.
