SSC examinee shot by 'BSF men' in Panchagarh

A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee was shot and injured by Indian Border Security Force (BSF)  members along Ratinibari Prodhanpara bordering area in Sadar upazila on Sunday.
 
The victim is Shumun Roy, 16, son of Paresh Chandra Roy of Ratinibari Prodhanpara village in the upazila. He appeared in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
 
Quoting local people, Lieutenant Colonel Mamunul Haque, commanding officer of BGB-65 Battalion, Nilphamari, said Shimun along with some others were erecting fence with net near the border in the morning.
 
At one stage, the BSF members from Khayerbari went to the spot and asked them not to do so, he said.
 
At one stage of the altercation, the BSF members shot Shimun, leaving him critically injured.
 
Later, he was taken to Panchagarh Modern Hospital and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
