Sheikh Hasina resigned and left Bangladesh for India last Monday, and the people across the country erupted in euphoria. Unpleasant incidents, such as the torching of eminent singer Rahul Anand’s home, have also taken place.

The Rajshahi branch of Star Cineplex – located in the Bangabandhu Hi Tech Park – was vandalised last Monday, said Star Cineplex Senior Manager (Marketing & Media) Mesbah Uddin Ahmed.

Regarding the damage, he said, “The branch was closed for quite some time. On the night of August 5, miscreants vandalised the counters, gates, seats and various decorations inside the hall.

“We will be able to assess the full extent of the damage after the situation returns to normal.”

Meanwhile, after Sheikh Hasina resigned from the position of prime minister, miscreants vandalised the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32. Eminent singer Rahul Anand lived on that road.

At that time, his house was vandalised and torched. Rahul, his wife and son were thrown out of the house. Thousands of musical instruments made by Rahul were destroyed in the fire.
