Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed has directed police officials to remain vigilant and tolerate no extortion of vehicles that transport cattle ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The IGP made the remark while speaking as the president on the last day of the two-day Quarterly Crime Review Meeting at Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Wednesday, read a press release.
He also instructed the officials to inspect cattle markets and to deploy uniformed and plain-clothed police members there.

However, vehicles transporting sacrificial cattle cannot be stopped or checked without significant reason, he said.
The IGP said that the journey of homebound people should be eased on the occasion of Eid. He directed the field-level officials to abide by the government guidelines for the movement of motorcycles in remote places.
